Story of Kani Pashmina Shawl
Kani Weaving remains today the 'King of Weave' in the world. Originated in c.a. 13th century in Kashmir, the Kashmiri artists have elevated the art over time. Extremely rich, complex, imaginative designs and color palettes are incorporated in cashmere shawl making, embedding cultural and artistic influences from various historical periods.
The Process
The Kani weaving process is extremely time consuming and painstaking. Instead of using a shuttle, the weft yarns are carried by a little wooden stick (tuji), and moved by hand through warp yarns.
The entire design and color combinations are typically hand drawn on paper, and used as guide during weaving. Typically a Kani pashmina shawl can take 6-18 months to make.

Feature of Our Collection
Our selection of Kani Shawl feature both modern designs, which are soft, light and easy going, as well as classic designs which are popular through centuries of time.
We are inspired by the young shawl markers passinoate about heritage, but are also motivated to create unique, modernized styles and collaborate with the new ideas.
